If your kid is scared of the ocean, you're not alone — most first-timers are at least a little nervous, and a few are visibly scared. We treat that as normal, not a problem to fix quickly.

The first session for a nervous kid often stays entirely out of the water — just getting comfortable with gear and the sound of the surf.

Small Wins, Named Out Loud

We call out progress specifically: "You put your face in the water for three seconds that time." Vague praise doesn't build confidence; specific praise does.
